# Backorders

> Accept Orders for out-of-stock items in 86d. Shoppers see the expected wait, and the item ships when stock arrives.

The Backorders [Module](/docs/concepts/modules) lets [Shoppers](/docs/resources/glossary#shopper) buy items that are temporarily out of stock. It tags each backordered line item with an estimated ship date, then emits `backorder.fulfillable` once stock is replenished and the [Order](/docs/concepts/commerce-model) can ship.
