# Recommendations

> Personalized product recommendations powered by OpenAI, Gemini, or OpenRouter, with a rule-based fallback when no AI key is configured.

The Recommendations [Module](/docs/concepts/modules) suggests products tailored to each [Shopper](/docs/resources/glossary#shopper). With an LLM key configured (`OPENAI_API_KEY`, `GEMINI_API_KEY`, or `OPENROUTER_API_KEY`), recommendations come from embeddings plus the Shopper's recently viewed products and [Order](/docs/concepts/commerce-model) history. The [Search](/docs/modules/search) Module shares the embeddings backend when both Modules are configured. Without a key, the Module falls back to rules: shared category, shared tags, and co-purchase frequency.

* `<PersonalizedShelf />`: home or account-page shelf.
* `<TrendingProducts />`: editorial shelf.
