86d is available for early evaluation. Managed hosting, live checkout, 86d Payments, and agent operations that change a store are still being prepared for launch. Feature readiness varies, so check the documentation for the current status.

## About

86d is MIT-licensed store software with code for catalog, cart, checkout, orders, payments, shipping, tax, fulfillment, customer records, and returns. It can run without an 86d.app account or the managed service.

86d.app is the optional managed service for accounts, businesses, hosting, billing, payment onboarding, and future authorized agent access. 86d Console is the website people use to manage it.

## Architecture

Each 86d deployment keeps its store data in a separate database. The optional managed service keeps account, hosting, and billing information separately. They communicate through authenticated APIs.

Authorized agent access for store operations is still being built. Internal application APIs are not public.

Store commerce HTTP APIs are served from each store domain. They are not served from 86d.app.

## Open source

86d is MIT-licensed open source. The optional 86d.app managed service, including 86d Console, is proprietary.

## Technologies

86d uses TypeScript, Bun, and Next.js, Drizzle, and Zod.

## Pricing

86d charges nothing for self-hosting 86d.

The managed launch offer includes a 30-day trial with $5 in usage credit for the first eligible store. After the trial, Launch costs $1 per active store each month for 12 consecutive months. The store then moves to Premium at $20 per active store each month. Additional managed stores use Premium. Infrastructure and managed usage are separate from the management fee. Enterprise terms are negotiated. There is no routine seat charge.

Merchants can configure their own payment provider and pay it directly, with no added 86d checkout fee. 

86d Payments will be a separate, all-in option.
