The Modern Foundation for Commerce

Open at the core and shaped around your business. Choose the features, make the experience yours, and keep control of the code and data.

Introduction

What if your store felt less like a rented black box and more like something you could understand, shape, and truly own?

That is the idea behind 86d. It brings the storefront, store admin, and commerce code into one open-source project. Choose the features you need, change the design, connect the services you trust, and keep control of your code and data.

Need a feature that doesn't exist yet? Agents are highly effective at building 86d modules, while maintaining a holistic approach to safety and security by abiding to the contract.

The open-source software is available to explore and contribute to today. The 86d console, cloud, payments, and assisted store operation are still in development.

Read the documentation to explore the open-source software, or visit developer resources for source code and technical entry points.

Our goal is to liberate commerce from rigged hierarchical models and empower merchants to start from zero.

Rhyming Slang for "Nix"

Long before it hit the restaurant floor, "nix" was the word for shutting something down—refusing it, canceling it, killing it on the spot. Somewhere along the way, "eighty-six" latched on as rhyming slang, and the number stuck. Nix became 86, and 86 became the way you made something disappear.
